Prime Minister Edi Rama received the “Zayed” Medal today from the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

According to Rama, the award represents the highest respect and recognition ever given to an Albanian prime minister.

“I am deeply moved by this unimaginable surprise and extraordinary honor,” Rama said. “By awarding me the highest medal of this friendly country, which bears the name of the UAE’s founder, Sheikh Zayed, the president shows the greatest respect for an Albanian prime minister. I accept it humbly, with pride for Albania and with deep gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, as well as to every Albanian who has entrusted me with leading and representing our homeland.”

Meanwhile, the award ceremony took place today in Abu Dhabi as part of Sustainable Development Week. The “Zayed” Awards recognize humanitarian initiatives that support development in emerging countries.

In particular, organizers honored projects and organizations that improve education, provide access to drinking water, and support food programs for communities in need. In addition, they awarded initiatives that address climate change and promote environmental protection.
