Mosaic “The Sun of the Next Day” to remain at AQShF

The mosaic “The Sun of the Next Day” by artist Blerta Kambo will stay in the eastern section of the Central State Film Archive (AQShF). The work blends cultural heritage with health awareness.

According to AQShF, the piece, also known as “Shqipja”, brings a new museum dimension to Albanian archival memory. “Thank you, Blerta Kambo, for adding your artistic voice to Albanian archival memory! The mosaic does not stay on the wall. It faces the viewer. It looks directly at you, silently asking the questions you avoided all day. Small broken pieces and vibrant colors stir emotions. Yet, together, they form a figure. They become memory. This mosaic speaks of pain and art, of patience and women. Of time. Of people who break and rebuild until they finally stand tall,” the AQShF statement said.

Previously, the National History Museum façade in Tirana temporarily hosted “The Sun of the Next Day” in November. The installation combined history with contemporary art.

For this project, Kambo placed a new artistic element over the main female figure of the monumental mosaic “Shqipëria.” She recontextualized it as a symbolic gesture supporting women facing breast cancer.

In the mosaic, the figure appears with a shaved head and a mark on her right chest. This gesture symbolizes solidarity with women who are battling or have survived breast cancer.

Through this work, the mythical heroine becomes a contemporary woman—sensitive, wounded, yet strong, moving forward. The installation reflects life, strength, and renewal, linking collective memory with awareness.

Finally, the piece remained visible on the museum façade to honor one in twelve women diagnosed with breast cancer. It serves as a shared reminder and a call for awareness, solidarity, and hope.
