Hana, the Girl Who Caught the Sun” Now Available in Albanian

After its English debut, “Hana, the Girl Who Caught the Sun”, a fairy tale representing Albania in the “Awake not Sleeping” collection, is now available in Albanian.

Written by renowned children’s author Rovena Rrozhani, the book combines traditional folklore with a modern narrative. It was awarded the 2024 Children’s Creativity Fund by the National Center for Books and Reading and was recently launched at the November Fair.

The story, illustrated by Mirjana Madhi, follows Hana, the daughter of a mirror maker, on her mission to save her village from darkness. The tale teaches children that self-confidence and intelligence, not physical strength, are the keys to overcoming challenges.

Rovena Rrozhani’s work strengthens her identity as an Albanian writer, and her book was selected from over 100 authors across 23 countries. Anna Lattanzi, editor-in-chief of “Albania Letteraria”, commends Rrozhani for blending modern themes with traditional storytelling.

Psychologist Blerta Bodinaku praises Hana as a symbol of courage, creativity, and resilience.

This new fairy tale adds to Rrozhani’s previous works, including “The Meadow of Bears”, “Bears Want to Fly”, and “Rozi and the Dancing Tomato”.
