Reviving History: DPA Publishes Five Works on Albanian Heritage and Archival Science

The General Directorate of Archives (DPA) introduced five new scholarly publications focusing on historical and archival topics. These include three document compilations, one monograph, and the journal Arkivat Shqiptare. The initiative marks the third consecutive year of DPA’s contributions to studies on key historical periods, significant figures, and archival methodologies in Albanian spaces.
DPA’s General Director, Ardit Bido, highlighted plans to develop archival guides to better assist researchers, particularly with the recent expansion of Archival Corners both domestically and internationally.
Among the publications:
- Jani Vreto, Correspondence with Sotir Kolea by Sokol Çunga showcases handwritten letters from an important figure of the Albanian National Awakening.
- The June Movement of 1924 in Archival Documents by Elsa Saka and Fatjon Balliu provides a neutral perspective on a pivotal historical event.
- Documents on the Presence of Jews in Albania, 1939–1945 by Brisejda Lala and Florin Zyberaj underscores Albania’s humanitarian efforts during World War II.
Additionally, the journal Arkivat Shqiptare, published for the eighth consecutive year in collaboration with ASHAK, features research by archivists and scholars from Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Montenegro, consolidating works presented at Pan-Albanian Archival Conferences.
