Theatre in Focus: “Apollon” Festival Celebrates Art and Emotion in Its 15th Year

The National Acting Festival “Apollon” commenced with an extraordinary atmosphere at the “Bylis” Theatre in the city of Fier. Mayor Armando Subashi expressed that the dramatic performance “7 Minutes,” which opened the festival, conveyed powerful social messages and deeply moved the audience.

“An impressive start to a festival rich in art and emotion,” said Subashi.

The play “7 Minutes,” directed by Driada Dervishi, featured a cast of 11 actresses, including well-known names from the Albanian stage such as Yllka Mujo, Luiza Xhuvani, Zamira Kita, Olta Daku, and Anila Bisha.

The play addressed the dignity and rights of textile workers. It tells the story of a workday and the heroic efforts of women to protect their rights.

Over seven nights, the National Acting Festival will showcase performances by professional troupes from Albania and Kosovo. This 15th edition of the festival is dedicated to the actor. New features will include the “In Memoriam” awards for two iconic theatre figures, Fatos Sela and Hajrie Rondo, as well as two career achievement awards.
