On November 24, the stage of Teatro Cantiere Florida in Florence will host “Tirana My Rhythm,” a unique choreographic work by Giulio De Leo, created in collaboration with the National Experimental Theatre of Tirana and Albania Dance Meeting. This project offers an innovative experience where the language of dance merges with elements of photography and videography, creating a contemporary and unconventional performance.

Teatro Cantiere Florida, which reopened in 2002 after extensive restoration, is now one of Italy’s most dynamic creative centers, featuring a rich artistic program of prose, dance, and children’s theater. Located in Florence’s Oltrarno district, this unique space collaborates with renowned Italian and international organizations, presenting the best of new dramaturgy and contemporary dance to the public.

“Tirana My Rhythm” was born from an invitation by Gjergj Prevazi, director of the National Experimental Theatre of Tirana, to Italian choreographer Giulio De Leo to work with young Albanian talents. The performance incorporates elements of Albanian folk tradition within a contemporary format, blending familiar motifs into a cyclical and ritualistic structure. The body becomes a vibrant landscape that facilitates a meeting of diverse cultures, creating a poetic experience that highlights the power of art as a bridge for intercultural connection.
