World-Famous Tenor Saimir Pirgu Performs Tosca at TKOB After 13 Years

After a 13-year absence, renowned tenor Saimir Pirgu received a warm ovation from the Albanian audience last night. He performed the role of Cavaradossi in Puccini’s Tosca at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet (TKOB).
The tickets for this eagerly anticipated performance sold out in record time. While Tosca has been staged many times at TKOB, this production holds particular significance, not only due to Pirgu’s return to the stage but also because it marks the conclusion of the “Puccini Year,” in honor of the famous composer Giacomo Puccini.
TKOB has prepared four unique performances featuring two casts, with Krassimira Stoyanova, Carlos Almaguer, and Eva Golemi joining Pirgu in the leading roles.
Tosca is an emotional journey of passion, jealousy, and sacrifice, set in 19th-century Rome. The opera delves into the complex relationships between a passionate singer, an idealistic artist, and a sadistic police chief.
This production of Tosca comes as a spectacular collaboration with the Fondazione Festival Torre del Lago, which is celebrating Puccini’s centenary. The production features world-renowned director Manu Lalli, who brings a fresh artistic vision to the stage at TKOB.
