The next restoration project for Albanian cinema from the pre-1990s is Kthimi i Ushtrisë së Vdekur (The Return of the Dead Army), a 1989 film directed by the legendary Dhimitër Anagnosti. The film, based on Ismail Kadare’s novel The General of the Dead Army, features an exceptional cast and will be showcased in a newly restored version.

This project, carried out by the Central State Film Archive in collaboration with Augustus Color Laboratory, is part of the 80th anniversary of Albania’s liberation, serving as a tribute to those who fought, suffered, and sacrificed for the homeland’s causes.

The restored version will premiere on November 25, 2024, at the Millennium Cinema in Tirana.

With a screenplay and direction by Anagnosti, the film’s score was composed by Gjon Simoni, cinematography by Bardhyl Martiniani, art direction by Kleo Nini, and costumes by Durim Neziri. Leading roles are portrayed by renowned actors such as Bujar Lako, Guljelm Radoja, Roza Anagnosti, Ndriçim Xhepa, Kastriot Ahmetaj, Vasillaq Godo, Raimonda Bulku, Liza Vorfi, Birçe Hasko, and Andon Qesari.
