Laura Nezha, Eni Jani, and Violeta Trebicka Deliver a Riveting Agnes of God in Tirana

Last night, actresses Laura Nezha, Eni Jani, and Violeta Trebicka brought the powerful play Agnes of God to the stage at the University of Arts, under the direction of the acclaimed Kiço Londo. The trio offered a profound exploration of the unpredictable bond between motherhood and human nature, presenting a modern, intense, and deeply human interpretation.

Agnes of God is a 1979 drama by American playwright John Pielmeier. It tells the haunting story of a young nun (portrayed by Laura Nezha) who, after giving birth in a convent, claims that the child was the result of a virgin conception. When the newborn is found dead, a psychiatrist (played by Eni Jani) and the convent’s Mother Superior (portrayed by Violeta Trebicka) engage in a heated investigation to uncover the truth.

“This drama is a thought-provoking piece that questions legal, psychiatric, religious, and existential certainties, exposing moral ambiguities through a brilliantly witty, dramatic, and insightful dialogue,” director Kiço Londo shared with the media.

Agnes of God will continue to be performed tonight and tomorrow (November 6 and 7) at the University of Arts in Tirana.
