Albania Commemorates 80 Years of Liberation with Nationwide Events

In honor of the 80th anniversary of Liberation, a series of activities will be organized across the country and beyond.
Prime Minister Edi Rama shared the Ministry of Defense’s calendar of events for November on social media.
“The 80th anniversary of Liberation, one of the most significant events in our historical legacy, remembered and celebrated nationwide,” Rama stated.
Events will be held in Dibër, Berat, Ulcinj, Tuz, Vlorë, Tirana, Podgorica, Shkodër, Korçë, Skopje, Prishtina, among other locations.
On November 29, Albania celebrates the 80th anniversary of its liberation from Nazi-Fascist occupation. Since April 7, 1939, Albania had been under fascist occupation. Following Italy’s capitulation in the autumn of 1943, the country was then occupied by German forces.
In late November 1944, after the liberation of Tirana, a significant number of northern cities were also freed. The liberation of Shkodër marked Albania’s full liberation from German occupation.
