Albania’s National Archives Unveils ‘Audio and Video Archive’ Platform for Digital Access to Historical Records

The General Directorate of Archives (DPA) has launched the “Audio and Video Archive” platform, offering access to digitized audio and video records of Albania’s post-1945 political history. This collection, including Enver Hoxha’s personal recordings and communist-era speeches, is now available at videoteka.arkiva.gov.al. Director Ardit Bido announced that educational access will be free, while Central State Film Archive Director Marinela Ndria emphasized its significance for long-term preservation. With 19 million documents digitized since 2019, the DPA is among Europe’s most digitally advanced archives.
