Albania to Join Peace Board with Military Staff, Not Financial Contributions

Defense Minister Pirro Vengu confirmed that Albania will participate in the Peace Board using military staff rather than financial aid.
In a television interview, Vengu said Albania’s involvement comes as no surprise. Furthermore, he explained, “We have already met with military forces to discuss how peacekeeping and stabilization missions in the Gaza Strip will operate. We covered the rules of engagement, mission objectives, and the umbrella structures under which countries like Albania and Kosovo will act.”
Vengu added that Albania’s participation reflects its consistent stance on the Israel–Palestine issue. “For those following this process, our inclusion feels completely natural,” he said.
He noted that today’s Peace Board meeting marks the culmination of months of work by the United States, which legitimized the initiative. “This invitation was welcome, not surprising,” he added. “It shows that Albania, despite its modest size, consistently achieves results beyond expectations through dedication and engagement.”
Vengu also discussed Edi Rama’s remarks at the meeting, where the Prime Minister raised the ongoing trial at The Hague involving four former KLA leaders.
“Those few seconds highlighted the injustice in The Hague, which is a national concern,” Vengu said. “The Peace Board operates as a flexible mechanism. Don’t forget that Albania and Kosovo are active participants. The initiative started with Gaza, but its goal is to restore peace in other regions as well.”
