Concert by the RTSH Orchestra Featuring the Works of Gustav Mahler and Andrea Scartazzini

The forthcoming concert by the Albanian Radio Television Symphony Orchestra will showcase compositions by two notable composers from different eras: the Austrian-Jewish composer Gustav Mahler, who was active during the 19th and 20th centuries, and contemporary Swiss artist Andrea Scartazzini. The performance will be conducted by the Italian Maestro Facundo Agudin and will feature the esteemed Albanian soprano Renisa Laçka as a special guest soloist.

Maestro Facundo Agudin has expressed great enthusiasm for the program, stating, “The program we will perform promises to be spectacular and extraordinarily beautiful. It includes Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 in G Major, which I must say is quite complex, and we are working diligently with the Orchestra, as well as a prelude preceding it, which is the premiere of Swiss composer Andrea Scartazzini. It is a very brief piece that we will perform together with the soloist, Renisa Laçka, a fantastic soprano from the Opera.”

Although this is not Agudin’s first concert in Albania, the selected work will be performed for the first time by the RTSH Symphony Orchestra. Despite this novelty, the conductor has been deeply impressed by the meticulous dedication of the Orchestra and other artists in their efforts to deliver an unforgettable performance for the audience.

“What can I say about Albanian artists? I don’t know if you’re working with a Russian, Italian, or German artist… Albanian artists are very interesting, inspiring individuals with a unique artistic sensitivity and vocal quality. From the caliber of the artists I have worked with, I get the sense that anyone here could potentially be a singer of any style. Therefore, I am very happy to perform with them. It is the first time the Orchestra is performing this piece, but I can say it is different and very beautiful,” he added.

This concert is scheduled for Friday, October 25, in the hall of the University of Arts. It is organized with the support of the Swiss Embassy in Tirana, the German Embassy in Tirana, and the Swiss public foundation “Pro Helvetia,” with the aim of supporting artists and promoting Swiss culture and art abroad.
