Venetian Publishing History Comes to Light: National Library of Albania and Italian Cultural Institute Present Unique Exhibition

The National Library of Albania, in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute, has opened an exhibition featuring the Venetian Collections, bringing to light the hidden treasures of Venice’s publishing history.
Prime Minister Edi Rama shared images of this exhibition on social media, where Venice’s publications are presented to the Albanian public for the first time.
“In every book and map lies an undiscovered chapter of our shared journey with the Mediterranean. Not only facts, but the spirit of a history that unites shores, reminding us that the sea has always been a bridge, not a division,” Rama remarked.
This exhibition, one of the largest and most significant organized by the National Library of Albania (BKSH), displays around 600 original books and maps printed in Venice between 1400 and 1800.
Most of these items are being exhibited to the public for the first time.
The exhibition is curated by Elisabetta Sciarra, scientific curator and director of the Central National Library of Florence, one of the most prestigious and oldest libraries in Europe.
The Venetian collections exhibition will be open to visitors daily from October 21 to November 4.
