Passion for Folklore in Lezha: Young People Embrace Traditional Dance and Çiftelia

The çiftelia (folk musical instrument) and traditional folk dance of the northern region, along with their rich costumes, are increasingly captivating young people who are passionate about folklore. The growing interest among Lezha’s youth in these traditions is a positive sign for national cultural heritage preservation.

“So far, we have learned many new dances and steps, and we have participated in numerous concerts,” said dancer Dea Preçi.

“This identifies my region, and it’s something I inherited from my grandparents,” shared fellow dancer Sabina Temali.

“I have been playing the çiftelia for a year now, and my passion is playing the sharkia (folk musical instrument),” revealed Alfons Deda, a çiftelia player.

These talented young musicians and dancers have taken part in many events both at home and abroad, showcasing the centuries-old folk traditions of the northern region and earning recognition through various awards.
