Minister Gonxhja: Contemporary Art Biennale Promotes Tourism and Cultural Heritage in Durres

The Contemporary Art Biennale, with its inaugural edition in the historic city of Durrës, positions Albania on the global map dedicated to contemporary art. The Minister of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhja, stated in an online post that this exhibition also contributes to the promotion of tourism and cultural heritage.

The theme of the Biennale is “Artificial Intelligence: The Hybrid Future.” This event brings together 17 national pavilions, featuring the works of 40 artists from Albania and abroad, which are displayed in the public and historical spaces of the city of Durrës.

The Contemporary Art Biennale was founded and curated by Oltsen Gripshi and is supported by the Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation. The Biennale will culminate with the award for the best national pavilion.

This exhibition is structured as a biennial event, taking place every two years, and aims to unite the latest currents, aesthetic approaches, and stylistic trends in international contemporary art. It transforms the city of Durrës into one of the most significant and meaningful stages for visual arts worldwide every two years.

This biennial international exhibition of contemporary art is also supported by the Municipality of Durrës, serving as a way to focus the creative attention of the most distinguished contemporary artists, both local and international, on Albania’s oldest city.
