In the Laboratory for Art Restoration at the Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage in Berat, the restoration process for two icons has commenced: the icon of “The Virgin Mary,” found in the Church of Saint George in the village of Libofshë, Fier County, by the Çetiri brothers, and the icon of “Christ,” also discovered in Libofshë, by the same authors.

Both icons undergoing restoration are part of the icon collection of the Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage Berat, and the interventions are being carried out by the restoration specialists of this institution.

The restoration process will go through the following stages: consolidation of the icon’s painting, disinfection, cleaning, and reapplication of varnish to protect the icon’s painting.
