Puccini’s Early Masterpieces Grace the Stage of “Aleksandër Moisiu” Theatre in Durrës

Two works by the composer Giacomo Puccini, which emerged in his early years, were performed on the stage of the “Aleksandër Moisiu” Theatre in Durrës.
Puccini’s Preludio Sinfonico is a one-movement symphonic fantasy, followed by Messa di Gloria, one of his most intimate and moving compositions. Written when he was only 20 years old, this work stands as a testament to his early genius.
This unique evening was presented by the Symphony Orchestra of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet (TKOB), conducted by the maestro Toufic Maatouk, and accompanied by the TKOB Choir under the direction of maestro Dritan Lumshi. Special performances featured tenor Raffaele Abete, baritone Armando Likaj, and bass Bledar Domi.
The pieces performed are considered among Puccini’s most evocative works, which returned to the TKOB after eight years. Initially realized as a graduation project, these compositions foreshadowed Puccini’s vocal mastery and laid the strong foundations for the successes that followed.
