“Tirana Gate” Welcomes European Artists in Tirana

Humanity and Self, Humanity and the City, Humanity and Nature, Humanity and Society, Humanity and the Artificial Intelligence it has Created, Contemporary Humanity Confronted with the Pressures of Time. These and many other questions raised by both established and emerging writers in their literary works compel us to think and reflect daily. They will be central to the activities of the International Youth Literary Festival “Tirana Gate” 2024, which will take place over three consecutive days on October 9, 10, and 11 in the “Tonin Harapi” hall of the “Jordan Misja” Artistic High School in Tirana.
The Director of the International Youth Literary Festival “Tirana Gate,” Irena Toçi, states that this festival demonstrates that Albania now possesses its own European voice through literature.
All participants in this literary festival will have the mission of cultural exchange, sharing experiences, stories, emotions, and human relationships in a literary space where the main focus will be on humanity today, facing itself and the world.
The event is organized with the support of the Ministry of Economy, Culture, and Innovation, the Ministry of Education and Sports, the Municipality of Tirana, the European Union, Traduki, the Goethe Institute, the Publishing Center for Albanians in the Diaspora, the “Jordan Misja” Artistic High School, the German Embassy, the Greek Embassy, the Italian Institute of Culture in Tirana, the National Center for Books and Reading, RTSH, and “ExLibris.”
In the evening, the tenth edition of the International Youth Literary Festival “Tirana Gate 2024” will feature Greek writer Amanda Michalopoulou for the first time, alongside translator Isida Metaj, who presents to the Albanian reader the book “Why I Killed My Best Friend.”
Amanda Michalopoulou is the author of eight novels, three collections of short stories, a theatrical play, and a novella. She is a recipient of numerous national and international awards in Greece. The stories and essays of the author have been translated into twenty languages worldwide.
“Tirana Gate 2024” aims to promote quality literature by creating a cultural space where young European writers can meet each other.
