October: A Celebration of Restored Albanian Cinema at COD

October, among other things, marks the month of restored Albanian cinema at the Center for Openness and Dialogue (COD). In collaboration with the Central State Film Archive, COD will present to cinephiles a cycle of four restored Albanian films.

The Central State Film Archive invites the audience on a journey through time to rediscover our cinematic cultural heritage, carefully preserved and showcased for future generations.

Throughout the month of October, the following films will be screened at COD: Tomka and His Friends, A Tale from the Past, The Death of a Horse, and General Gramophone.

Tomka and His Friends was the first film to inaugurate this month of restored cinema. Screened at noon at COD, the film tells the story of four children who assist partisans by sabotaging German soldiers, who have taken over their football field.

This film, produced by Kinostudio Shqipëria e Re in 1977, directed by renowned children’s filmmaker Xhanfize Keko, and written by Nasho Jorgaqi, once again brought to the audience a cast of actors who were icons of the childhood of that era.
