Albania ranks 9th globally in cybersecurity, marking major progress in NCSI standings

Prime Minister Edi Rama announced today that Albania has achieved significant progress in cybersecurity. The country now ranks 9th in the world on the National Cyber Security Index (NCSI) with a score of 92.5.
This marks a major improvement from previous years. Albania climbed steadily from 54th place in 2023 to 15th in 2025, reaching one of the top positions globally in this field.
The NCSI evaluates national capacities to manage cyber risks. It examines legal and policy frameworks, protection of essential services, incident management, capacity development, and international cooperation.
Albania’s ranking reflects strong performance across multiple indicators. These include institutional organization, incident response, and preventive measures at the national level.
During this period, responsible authorities successfully managed numerous cyber incidents and threats. They strengthened their ability to detect, analyze, and respond in real time. This experience directly improved protective mechanisms and enhanced the resilience of national information systems.
The report highlights Albania’s progress in building robust cybersecurity structures, developing national policies and strategies, and improving coordination and response mechanisms against digital threats.
Overall, this ranking confirms Albania’s advancement in creating a sustainable cybersecurity system and aligning with the best international standards and practices.
