Albania’s film ‘Pikë uji’ has been submitted for consideration at the Oscars

Yesterday, at the premises of the National Center of Cinematography (QKK), the Selection Committee convened to decide which film will represent Albania at the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences for 2025.
Following the open call from QKK, the only applicant was the film production company Era Film, with the feature-length film Pikë uji, directed by Robert Budina.
The committee unanimously voted in favor of the candidacy presented by Era Film, selecting ‘Pikë uji’ (Water Drop) as Albania’s official submission for the International Feature Film category at the 97th Academy Awards.
The National Center of Cinematography extended its best wishes to director Robert Budina and producer Sabina Kodra for the upcoming competition.
‘Pikë uji’ premiered just a week ago in the capital’s cinemas. The story, written by Robert Budina, Doruntina Basha, and Ajola Daja, centers on Aida, a powerful figure in her city. However, when her son Mark is implicated in a serious accusation, Aida’s world begins to unravel. How far will she go to protect her son?
‘Pikë uji’ is a gripping thriller that explores the true cost of power and parental love. The film is co-financed by the National Center of Cinematography, MIBAC, QKK Kosovo, the North Macedonia Film Agency, Creative Europe Media, and SEE.
