Rama shares images of Lezhë Castle with its profile illuminated by lights

The Lezhë Castle, after being illuminated with LED lights, offers a stunning view for both the local residents and the many tourists who visit it.
Prime Minister Edi Rama shared images of the castle at night, from which visitors can see the entire city of Lezhë and the Adriatic Sea. “Lezhë Castle with its illuminated profile,” Rama wrote.
Lezhë Castle stands on top of a hill 186 meters high, to the east of the city. The castle has Illyrian origins. In 1440, it was reconstructed by the Venetians, and in 1522, following the Ottoman conquest, it was also rebuilt by them. The castle features traces of Illyrian, Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman architecture.
Notable sites to visit within the castle include the ruins of Ottoman buildings, a mosque, the southeastern tower with a Roman arch, and an Illyrian tower on the southern wall. Lezhë Castle is a cultural monument.
In addition to Lezhë Castle, other fortresses such as those in Shkodër, Berat, and Gjirokastër have also been illuminated.
