Tirana, Part of World Press Photo 2024 Global Tour

The World Press Photo exhibition, currently being showcased in Skanderbeg Square, is the creation of a group of photographers from various countries around the world. They present not only beautiful images but, more importantly, powerful and sometimes shocking stories. This makes the event significant, carrying both artistic and informative weight.
Tirana is part of the global tour of the annual World Press Photo exhibition.
Each year, the exhibition travels worldwide, connecting millions of visitors with stories that matter. The photographs on display, selected from over 61,000 images submitted by 3,851 photojournalists from 130 countries, highlight some of the most sensitive issues facing the world today.
Currently, the exhibition is located in Eindhoven, Tirana, Tegucigalpa, Vienna, São Paulo, and many other cities.
The initiative began in 1955 when a group of Dutch photographers organized an international competition, “World Press Photo,” to showcase their work to a global audience. For six decades, the World Press Photo Foundation has operated from its headquarters in Amsterdam as an independent, non-profit organization. As the world has changed, new developments in media and technology have transformed journalism and storytelling.
The goal of World Press Photo is to connect the world with stories that matter.
