TTW: Albania remains a safe and unique Mediterranean destination despite global challenges

TIRANA, April 15 – Albania continues to attract rising numbers of international visitors, driven by affordable prices and its largely untouched coastline. Travel and Tour (TTW) highlighted the country as a safe and distinctive destination, even as global security concerns influence travel patterns worldwide.
TTW noted that geopolitical tensions across several regions have increased caution among global travellers. However, Albania’s appeal remains strong. Coastal destinations such as Ksamil, Dhërmi, and Himara continue to rank among the most sought-after locations in the Mediterranean. In addition, the US Department of State lists Albania as generally safe, while advising standard caution.
Authorities in Albania confirmed that no verified threats exist against tourists. They also stated that security institutions remain active. Meanwhile, daily life in coastal and urban areas continues without disruption. Analysts added that broader geopolitical dynamics shape perceptions of security more than domestic instability.
Tourism figures continue to rise, with more than 12 million foreign visitors recorded in 2025. As a result, Albania has gained stronger international visibility. The Albanian Riviera stands out as a less commercialised alternative to more developed Mediterranean destinations, offering natural landscapes and lower costs.
In addition, TTW described Albania as a destination still in transition. This status creates both opportunities and challenges for travellers. It also allows visitors to experience locations before large-scale commercial development takes place.
Despite increased attention, Albania continues to position itself as an accessible and attractive tourism market. The country’s coastline, cultural setting, and emerging infrastructure contribute to its growing profile.
