Daily Mail highlights Albania for solo travel in 2026

The British newspaper Daily Mail highlights Albania as one of the best destinations for solo travel in 2026. Erin Deborah Waks writes the article and states that solo travel has become a normal and preferred way of traveling for many tourists worldwide.

A study from the platform “Freetour,” which connects tourists with local guides in 145 countries, ranks destinations based on safety, ease of navigation, and social interaction. The report places Tirana on the list and strengthens Albania’s position on the global tourism map.

Freetour CEO Ignacio Merino says that the most important factor in solo travel is whether a city helps visitors connect with its environment. He adds that the best destinations offer easy navigation and direct access to local life.

The report describes Tirana as an emerging solo travel destination in Europe. It notes that the city still avoids mass tourism and maintains an authentic atmosphere with welcoming locals.

Albania also records strong tourism growth. The country increases international visitors by 56% between 2019 and 2023, according to the World Tourism Organization.

The article highlights affordability as a major advantage. Airlines offer flights from London Stansted to Tirana for as little as £15 with Ryanair. This makes the city one of the most affordable destinations in Europe for solo travelers.

Experts conclude that Tirana combines easy exploration, low costs, and strong local interaction. They say the city attracts more travelers who seek authentic experiences.
