Korça highlighted as budget-friendly Mediterranean-style destination for 2026, Islands reports

TIRANA, May 6 – The Albanian city of Korça attracts attention as a budget-friendly and underrated Mediterranean-style destination, according to an article by Islands.

At the same time, the publication notes that Albania ranks among the most affordable European countries for a coastal-style holiday. It adds that Korça still delivers a Mediterranean feel during spring and summer, despite its inland location.

Meanwhile, Islands highlights strong affordability across the city. Hotel prices often stay below 50 US dollars per night. Accommodation ranges from hotels to hostels and guesthouses, all located within walking distance of main attractions.

In terms of mobility, the report points to Korça’s compact layout. Visitors move easily on foot between key sites, without long travel distances inside the city.

In addition, transport remains simple and low-cost. Local taxi fares usually range between 5 and 10 US dollars per ride. Ride-hailing services such as Uber and Lyft do not operate in Albania, the report states.

Meanwhile, cycling continues to grow as a popular activity. Visitors often explore Korça and surrounding areas by bicycle, although the report advises caution due to motor traffic.

Seasonal conditions also shape the experience. Summers bring a warm Mediterranean atmosphere. Winters bring heavy snow and very low inland temperatures. At the same time, snow cover and holiday lighting create a distinctive seasonal landscape.

Finally, the article describes Korça as a “hidden gem” in Europe. It presents the city as an affordable destination for longer stays and quiet travel experiences.
