40 Israeli companies join cybersecurity summit, PM Rama praises Israeli support after Iranian attacks

TIRANA, May 12 – Prime Minister Edi Rama attended the Albania-Israel summit, where more than 40 Israeli companies joined discussions on cybersecurity and advanced technology. The summit focused on strengthening Albania’s economy and regional cooperation through innovation and digital development.

During his speech, Rama described Israel as a unique example of development based on knowledge rather than natural resources. He said Albania values its relationship with Israel and continues to promote the historic protection of Jews in Albania during World War II.

The prime minister said Albania emerged from World War II as the only country in Europe with more Jews than before the war. He stressed that Albanian Muslims protected Jewish families and risked their lives to shelter them. Rama added that the government continues to promote this history internationally.

He also thanked the participants and organizers of the summit. In addition, Rama said the presence of more than 40 Israeli companies reflected strong confidence in technology and partnership with Albania.

Speaking about digital transformation, the prime minister said technology gives countries like Albania an opportunity to move faster in infrastructure and public services. He added that innovation can help smaller countries achieve results that larger economies often struggle to reach.

Rama also referred to cybersecurity threats linked to Albania’s decision to host members of the Iranian opposition for humanitarian reasons. He said Iranian attacks targeted Albania’s digital public service systems after that decision.

According to the prime minister, Israel and the United Arab Emirates supported Albania after the attacks. He added that Albania learned it must continue investing in cybersecurity and protection systems. Rama also said Albania remains a welcoming country for Jewish visitors and strongly rejects antisemitism.
