Times Kuwait reports Albania attracting Gulf countries from luxury tourism to strategic investments

TIRANA, May 18 – According to Times Kuwait, rising international travel demand ahead of summer is driving global interest toward destinations that combine natural beauty, safety, affordability and authentic cultural experiences. In this context, the report highlights Albania as an emerging European destination for visitors from the Middle East, including Kuwait.

Albania presents an unspoiled Mediterranean coastline alongside mountain landscapes, lakes, rivers and rural areas. Tourism operators develop products that include Riviera luxury holidays, eco-tourism packages, cultural travel routes and adventure tourism experiences.

Meanwhile, Albanian Ambassador to Kuwait Ilir Hysa told Times Kuwait that Albania recorded strong tourism growth in recent years. The country welcomed more than 12 million visitors last year. He said Albania continues to attract families, young travellers and international tourists who explore new European destinations.

At the same time, the ambassador said Albania expands its tourism offer across multiple segments. Beach resorts operate alongside cultural heritage sites and mountain destinations. Youth tourism also grows quickly, supported by festivals, gastronomy, nightlife and entertainment.

In addition, Hysa stressed that Albania strengthens its position as a safe destination. He said this factor plays an increasingly important role for families and younger visitors.

For Gulf tourists, he highlighted widespread halal food availability across the country. He also confirmed access to Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine in many locations. Furthermore, he said Albania maintains a tradition of religious coexistence and cultural openness.

This cultural proximity increases Albania’s appeal among Arab visitors. Many travellers combine European experiences with cultural familiarity. Investment opportunities grow alongside tourism development.

As Albania advances its EU integration process, authorities strengthen legal and economic frameworks. This process supports higher investor confidence and wider market access.

Hysa invited Kuwaiti investors to explore opportunities in tourism, hospitality, real estate, renewable energy, agriculture and infrastructure. He described Albania as a growing investment destination with expanding potential.

Regarding access, he noted simplified entry conditions for Kuwaiti citizens. Holders of valid US, UK or Schengen visas enter Albania without additional requirements. Other travellers apply through the electronic visa system.

Overall, the ambassador presented Albania as more than a tourism destination. He described it as a combined space for travel, culture, lifestyle and investment opportunities.
