PM Rama at “Bread & Heart”: Albania emerging as reference point in international architecture

TIRANA, June 4 – Prime Minister Edi Rama said Albania attracts an increasing number of world-renowned architects. He said the country develops into a reference space for urban development and contemporary architecture. He spoke at the “Bread & Heart” festival in Tirana. The event takes place for the second consecutive year. He noted participation from Europe, Asia, North America and Latin America. He said these architects contribute to transformation projects in Albania.

In addition, Rama said the festival shows broader international participation compared to last year. He said the event includes leading architects and professionals from multiple regions. He listed Europe, China, the United States and Latin America. At the same time, he highlighted the presence of Santiago Calatrava. He described it as a special honour. He said he did not expect such a presence in Albania. Meanwhile, he credited developers and investors for attracting global architectural names. He stressed balance between urban development, nature and public spaces.

Later, Rama shared a personal remark about a message from a non-European leader. He said he sent images from the festival and related projects. The leader responded: “Wow, Albania. We need to sit down one day and you tell me how you do all this without money.” Finally, the “Bread & Heart” festival brings together architects, urbanists and developers in Tirana. It focuses on urban development, modern architecture and city transformation.
