TIRANA, June 9 – Prime Minister Edi Rama told Al Jazeera that the planned investment in Zvërnec represents a “blessing” for Albania. He said it will bring 4 billion dollars into the economy.

Meanwhile, speaking to Al Jazeera, Rama said the project was never in doubt. He said no uncertainty existed over its implementation.

However, he rejected claims that the government is selling public land. He told Al Jazeera the investment takes place on private property. He added that the government has no role in the agreement.

In addition, Rama said the project equals a “blessing for the country” and linked it to Albania’s economic scale, with GDP at around 27 billion euros.

At the same time, he said the initiative comes from a private agreement between private parties. He added that state institutions are not part of the transaction.

Finally, Rama told Al Jazeera that the debate stems from incorrect interpretations. He said the land involved is private and not public. He reiterated that the government is not involved in any land sale process.
