“Saranda Fish Festival”, celebration of fishing tradition, but also of culture

For the past two nights, the coastal city of Saranda has been hosting the “Saranda Fish Festival,” an event that celebrates not only the beautiful tradition of fishing but also Albanian culture, history of navigation, and hospitality.
From May 28th to June 1st, the “Saranda Fish Festival” features a diverse range of activities and concerts.
At the opening ceremony of this festival on the city’s promenade, the Mayor of Saranda, Oltion Çaçi, was present, inviting citizens from across the country as well as foreign tourists to join this event, describing it as “a wonderful journey of tradition, art, and culture in Saranda.”
“I hope this tourist year will be even better than the last,” said Çaçi.
Every evening, visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a lively atmosphere with various activities, from live music by well-known artists to artistic performances. The festival will be an ideal place to spend quality time with family and friends.
Famous Albanian singers such as Elhaida Dani, Aleksandër Gjoka, Redon Makashi, Elton Deda, and Saranda’s polyphonic group are expected to perform at the concerts.
Visitors have also shown interest in the nautical museum in Saranda, where its history is revealed through images, documents, and objects, which are living testimonies of the city’s rich traditions and history.
During the festival, a space has been dedicated to children, a world like in fairy tales that encourages them to unleash their imagination, love each other, the sea, and nature through activities with animators, paintings, film screenings, balloon creations, games, music, and entertainment.
An important part of the festival is undoubtedly the food. Visitors have the opportunity to enjoy traditional dishes from the area, especially fish-based dishes. Talented chefs prepare wonderful recipes that reflect Saranda’s gastronomic richness.
Under the open sky, films depicting the history and culture of the region are screened every night, offering a unique opportunity to learn more about Saranda and its traditions.
The Saranda Fish Festival is an excellent opportunity to experience the depth of Saranda’s fishing culture and tradition. With a rich and diverse program of activities, the festival aims to be an unforgettable event for all participants.
