Saranda leads list of Europe’s most affordable seaside destinations, according to Travel Off Path

TIRANA, June 12 – Saranda ranks first among four of the most affordable seaside destinations in Europe for summer 2026, according to a report published by Travel Off Path. The report highlights rising tourist demand for Europe’s major coastal destinations, including Italy’s Amalfi Coast and Greece’s Santorini. It also notes that European beach holidays do not always require high spending.
In its ranking, Travel Off Path lists Saranda alongside Northern Cyprus, Varna in Bulgaria, and Kalymnos in Greece. Saranda takes the top position due to its coastal scenery, historical heritage, and low-cost travel options. The report states that Saranda is no longer a hidden destination. It also says Albania’s coastline attracts increasing numbers of international visitors.
In some areas, visitor flows now match those in Italy and Croatia. Meanwhile, Ksamil near Saranda stands out for its white sand and clear waters. Tourists often compare the beach to the Caribbean and the Maldives. A beach set with an umbrella and two sunbeds costs around 10 US dollars per day.
Prices in Saranda remain relatively low. A sandwich costs about 5 US dollars. A three-course meal for two people ranges from 40 to 55 US dollars in mid-range restaurants. Accommodation starts at around 20 US dollars per night in budget rooms. Higher-end seaside stays average around 120 US dollars per night.
In addition, Travel Off Path highlights Butrint National Park. The site includes ancient Greco-Roman ruins and holds UNESCO status. Entry costs around 11 US dollars. The report compares this price with higher-cost historical sites in the region.
The report also refers to travel safety indicators. It notes that Albania is classified at Level 2 in the US Department of State advisory system. It also cites a travel safety index score of 83 out of 100, which it describes as satisfactory for international visitors.
