The longest-lived visual media in the country, Albanian Public Television, TVSh turns 64 this April 29

The history of the public broadcaster was born in April 1960. More than 6 decades ago, the first greeting came to Albanian citizens through the screen and it was exactly that greeting that marked the beginning of the history that bears the name Albanian Television.

On the day it started broadcasting, the first broadcast was a movie for children, then a documentary, a concert and then a movie. It was precisely Albanian Radio and Television, RTSH, which had a gift for allae groups. In 1963, the first news edition was broadcast, while in 1965, the only TVSH camera was moved to the stadium to broadcast a football match.

Years passed and this ever-growing institution brought and continues to bring to viewers all the programs for all age groups and the main news from all over the world, transforming into the most beloved channel by all Albanians. In 1971, the programs of the new TVSh Center began to be broadcast throughout the country. In 1972, Albanian Television broadcasts for the first time an international football match.

But different times brought different challenges. Since 1993, RTSh, has been broadcasting its radio and television programs also via satellite.

Since 1962, the Song Festival has started at RTSH, which still remains one of the biggest cultural events in the country, while since 2004; the winner of this festival also competes in Eurosong Fest.

For 64 years, hundreds of thousands of professional people have given their contribution by serving seriously while continuing the work of conveying the news and entertaining the citizens and entering every Albanian home.

At present, RTSH has entered a radical process of revitalization, to come back big again in the Digital Age.
