Si Viaggia: Grama Bay, hidden Karaburun Peninsula gem captivates global travellers

TIRANA, July 3 – The Italian media outlet Si Viaggia highlights Grama Bay in Karaburun Peninsula as a remote, wild destination that continues to impress visitors far from mass tourism.

The publication describes the bay as one of the most striking places on the Albanian Riviera. It sits hidden within the Karaburun Peninsula, facing the Ionian Sea. Si Viaggia notes that international attention has grown after its inclusion in the 2026 ranking of Europe’s 50 best beaches.

The outlet emphasizes the untouched nature of the area. It describes crystal-clear waters, white limestone cliffs, sea caves and a quiet environment free from urban development.

Visitors experience intense blue and turquoise shades of water that create a striking visual contrast. The sea conditions also make the area ideal for swimming and diving, with rich underwater scenery visible in clear conditions.

Si Viaggia also highlights the sea caves along the coastline. Many of them remain accessible only by boat or kayak from Dhërmi, Himara or Vlora. Light reflections inside the caves create unique visual effects.

Beyond natural beauty, the bay carries historical value. The name comes from the ancient Greek word “gramma”, meaning “letter”. Ancient sailors once left inscriptions on the rocks during storms. These engravings remain visible today.

The area also offers hiking routes across the Karaburun cliffs. The publication notes panoramic views of the Ionian coastline, especially at sunset.

Grama Bay remains accessible only by sea or hiking trails, preserving its untouched character.
