Korça University opens new smart tourism and regional development master program

TIRANA, July 10 – The growing tourism sector and the demand for qualified specialists have led the University “Fan S. Noli” in Korça to open a new study program.
Starting from the 2026–2027 academic year, the Faculty of Economy will offer the “Master of Science” program in “Smart Tourism and Regional Development”.
The program aims to meet labour market needs and support the sustainable development of the tourism sector.
Vice-Rector for Teaching Prof. Asc. Dr. Lorena Zeqo said the university developed the program through cooperation between three departments: Marketing and Tourism, Agri-Food, and History and Geography.
She explained that public and private institutions supported the initiative through consultations. According to Zeqo, the new master program responds to the needs of the market and reflects tourism’s role as a priority for the Korça region.
Meanwhile, the program follows the latest tourism development trends. It focuses on modern technologies, regional development, and improving the competitiveness of tourist destinations.
Zeqo added that the program will prepare managers and experts while encouraging scientific research and innovation, which represent key elements of master-level studies.
The University “Fan S. Noli” continues to expand its academic offer with contemporary programs. These initiatives aim to create more employment opportunities and support economic development in the region and across Albania.
