Specialists of the Gjirokastër Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage completed the restoration of the Polo Zoica characteristic villa, a cultural monument of the first category. The villa in question is located in the “Palorto” neighborhood.

The villa presents a planning composition different from the usual schemes. The reason is the relatively narrow space available and the respecting the width of the road, with which it borders the right side of the villa.

The intervention that Gjirokatër Regional Directorate of National Heritage undertook in this facility was an emergency, and measures were taken not to endanger passers-by.

The neighborhood “Palorto” can be considered as one of the most important neighborhoods of the city, since it houses the Ethnographic Museum and the Kadare Residence, also turned into a museum. Also, the adaptation of many of the characteristic houses, into family guesthouses where local and foreign tourists are welcomed, gives this neighborhood a great importance for tourism in Gjirokastër.
