TIRANA, July 28 – The Saint Praxedes Festival returned to Qafa e Predelecit, in Kelmend, Malësi e Madhe, bringing together local residents, members of the diaspora and visitors.

The celebration followed the Holy Mass at the Church of Saint Praxedes. The event aimed to revive an old tradition and strengthen the cultural identity of the Kelmend region.

The local parish organized the festival with the support of Father Viktor Demaj, the diaspora community and the Cultural Association “Jehona e Kelmendit” (The Echo of Kelemend).

Meanwhile, participants celebrated local heritage through traditional dances, majekrahu songs and characteristic clothing, including the xhubleta, a traditional Albanian garment.

Father Viktor Demaj said the festival helped promote the historical and cultural value of Kelmend. He stressed that the area has preserved its identity for centuries and deserves greater recognition.

The organizers intend to turn the celebration into an annual tradition. They also aim to strengthen the connection between the community and its cultural roots.
