Albania plans 5-6 inspectorates and new digital system, General Inspector Dashnor Sula says

TIRANA, August 20 – Albania plans to reorganise its inspection system within a year, General Inspector Dashnor Sula said in an interview with RTSH 1. He said the reform will reduce the number of inspectorates to around 5-6 and clarify responsibilities. Meanwhile, authorities will digitise the system to identify inspections based on risk groups.

Sula also said authorities expect to sign a cooperation agreement with Albania’s Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) in September. The agreement will allow inspectors to refer suspected serious violations to justice authorities. In addition, inspectors are expected to receive smart body cameras to document inspections and possible cases of pressure or blackmail.

The reform also includes a new reporting platform, sigurt.gov.al, which Sula said has operated for around 3 weeks. Citizens can report problems and suspected legal violations, including anonymously. According to Sula, operators register the complaints and forward the information for action.

At the same time, Sula said authorities have removed around 10 directors during his tenure over legal violations and abuse of office. He pledged zero tolerance for further breaches.
