Blue Corridor: Kashar–Rrogozhina motorway construction to begin this year

TIRANA, August 27 – Infrastructure and Energy Minister Enea Karakaçi said construction of the Kashar–Rrogozhina motorway would begin this year. In a video message published on social media, he said the project had completed its final stages and the Albanian Road Authority had approved the implementation design.

The ministry would now begin the expropriation process. The 33.5-kilometre motorway forms part of the Blue Corridor and continues the Thumana–Kashar section. The Category A motorway would provide a direct north-south connection and help ease traffic on the heavily used Tirana–Durrës route.

Karakaçi said the project formed part of a broader road investment package. The package included the Tirana and Elbasan bypasses, the Elbasan–Qafë-Thana and Elbasan–Rrogozhina sections, and the Milot–Balldren motorway. Together with other ongoing projects, these investments would modernise Albania’s road infrastructure and strengthen its connection with the European transport network.
