TIRANA, August 31 – Valbona Valley and Korab-Koritnik Nature Park remain among the most visited destinations for domestic and foreign tourists. Lefter Gjana, director of the Kukës Protected Areas Administration, said the region’s mountain trails offer opportunities for hiking and mountaineering.

The most popular routes include the Theth-Valbona trail, the Balcony V viewpoint route through Valbona Pass, the Gashi River and the Sulbica Mountains. Other attractions include the Colours Trail, Mount Gjallica and the Çaj-Prozhusit trail, which has attracted more visitors this year.

Gjana highlighted that tourists have experienced a safe season across the protected areas of Kukës Region. No incidents involving tourists have been reported during the current season.

Some 61,000 tourists visited the areas during the first 7 months of this year. Czech and German visitors accounted for a significant share of foreign tourists, while visitors also arrived from France, other Balkan countries and elsewhere.

Mountain trails, biodiversity and alpine landscapes remain among the region’s main attractions. The protected areas are helping Kukës expand its tourism offer through nature and outdoor activities.
