For the past decade, Erald Mullai from Pogradec has been immersed in the production of icons, exporting them to Romania. Accompanied by Pogradec’s Mayor, Ilir Xhakolli, Member of Parliament Olta Xhaçka recently visited an icon production workshop in the city, which has been operational for two years.

Erald Mullai, the workshop’s director, boasts over a decade of experience in icon production. Prior to returning to his homeland after 26 years abroad, he honed his craft in Romania for more than eight years.

Presently, this workshop stands as the sole certified facility in our nation for such production, catering to the Romanian market.

Erald expresses his contentment with the business atmosphere in Pogradec. He reveals that over 200,000 church icons are shipped to Romania monthly, with plans underway to expand exports to Greece.

Over the course of its ten-year tenure, Mullai’s workshop has churned out more than 10 million church icons.
