The “new home” of the RTSH symphony orchestra

The Albanian Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra already have their new home, with artistic lighting and acoustics, but also with a revitalization of its look. Work on the transformation of the new hall has lasted for several months, by a select group bringing the final product: an elite hall for the music.

According to the stage designer, Fatmir Minga, the work done in the Orchestra Hall was quite delicate as the acoustics did not have to be disturbed. The stage designer said that this hall has turned into an elite studio for music.

“The project has been put on paper since July and we have had no breaks while working on this project. Regarding the project, it was a kind of special as we found the hall in a state that needed renewing in terms of look and other functions. This is the home of the orchestra and it will no longer go to record in other halls, all that is needed is available here. Those who thought about renewing it said that this hall had been empty for a long time and they did it in a way as you do something different by turning it into an elite studio for music. Artistic lighting has been installed, a director of photography came, one of the most important people, who is Marco Lucarelli, director of photography at RAI. So the group was very good and we worked very closely with Bojken throughout the summer and autumn. It was difficult as it needed a very delicate operation because this is the studio that you cannot interfere with anything, as this has one of the best acoustics of all the theaters that exist, as the masters say. It was a tremendous responsibility to touch a thing, it’s delicate. We haven’t touched anything of what it was. We have only brought freshness. I cannot describe the struggle and work we have done. Sounds simple, but it was very difficult. It is very difficult to take an old thing and restore it,” said Minga

Even the artist and Director of Programming at Radio Tirana, Bojken Lako said that this new, transformed hall is now multifunctional where, in addition to recording acoustics, there will also be the possibility of video recording thanks to the artistic lighting.

The artist, Lako said that this hall will serve all artists in the country to record their albums and elite programs too.

“This is a hall that wanted an operation of artistic and technical concept. I’m glad that all the seemingly impossible visions, with the right positive approach and group work, worked on the restoration part without affecting the acoustics. This became a reality and the hall will be multifunctional by conceiving programs that promote music from the classical to modern one. Now we have the opportunity to visualize all these elite programs. We want Albanian artists to make their albums designed for band and orchestra. While these albums will be recorded they can also be shot. Everything that will be produced in the form of an artistic documentary movie about the life of an artist can be done from A-Z in this hall, the rehearsals, the audio and shooting will be on very high standards. We will have alternative programs in the form of a television movie and the product will come out of this hall. It would be good that this asset be used by all Albanian artists, whether by old ones, with a lot of experience, to make their albums in collaboration with the orchestra, but by the young artists too. This is something elite that should be used when needed, to have plenty of high performance productions,” said Lako.

The transformed hall will be the new home of the RTSH Symphony Orchestra, which was founded on May 16, 1962, as an extension of the Television and as a value to enrich the records archive.

The Radio and Television Symphony Orchestra has shown its high level in the concerts also performed abroad in front of foreign audiences who applauded it for a long time, such as in Turkey, Italy, Greece, in the European competition of symphony orchestras organized in Montenegro (Podgorica), without including the concerts performed in Prishtina and other cities in Kosova, or in Ohrid, North Macedonia, where especially the music critics have highly appreciated its performing level.
