Businessman Jared Kushner says Zvërnec land was bought privately, not given by government

Businessman Jared Kushner responded on his official website to articles in American media about his proposed investment in Zvërnec, Albania. He rejected claims that the Albanian government had granted him the land. Kushner said he bought it through a private transaction under current law for 230 million euros.
Kushner also disputed suggestions that the project aimed to win US President Donald Trump’s favour. He said his interest began in the summer of 2021, when he was a private citizen. This was long before Trump announced his 2024 presidential campaign.
Meanwhile, Kushner said he wants to create something distinctive for the area. He pledged to follow the highest standards and leave the site greener, with greater biodiversity. If approved and completed, he said, the investment could reach around 4 billion euros. He added that it would create jobs, economic activity and new development opportunities.
