British-Ukrainian Cultural Week brings artists to Tirana

Tirana is hosting British-Ukrainian Cultural Week from October 5 to 10. The programme brings together art and creativity to strengthen cultural ties between Albania, the United Kingdom and Ukraine.

British Ambassador to Albania Nicholas Abbott said the joint event expands the usual British Week and shows how culture can bring people closer across geographical distances. Meanwhile, Ukrainian Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Yulia Gorokhovska thanked Albania and the United Kingdom for supporting Ukraine since Russia began its aggression. She said culture helps Ukrainians preserve their national identity and share their history during the war.

The programme includes animation, photography, cinema, music, digital performance and poetry. On October 7, Tirana’s Millennium cinema hosted a masterclass on stop-motion animation, “Bringing Characters to Life”. Tim Allen, who worked on Guillermo del Toro’s Oscar-winning film Pinocchio, led the session.

The organisers are working with Albanian and British partners to promote artistic exchange, cultural dialogue and friendship between peoples.
