Albanian Puppet Show Wins Award at International Festival in Mostar

Albania’s National Puppet Theatre won an award at the sixth edition of the International Puppet Art Festival (FLUM) in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The theatre presented The Circus Show, directed by Klajd Ymeri, which received the award for best puppet articulation.
The production stands out because it tells its story entirely without dialogue. Instead, the performers use movement, gestures and expressive puppetry to convey emotions and connect with audiences. In this way, the show highlights the power of puppet theatre to communicate beyond words.
National Puppet Theatre Director Melsi Qirici said The Circus Show was among this year’s premieres and continues to reach international festival stages. She praised the artists and expressed pride in the applause they received while representing Albania.
Meanwhile, the theatre is preparing new productions for young audiences. Its upcoming show, The Lion King, will feature anatomically designed puppets using several techniques. Immersive projections will transform the theatre into a safari, while 11 actors will take the stage in what the theatre describes as its largest production to date.
