Foreign Minister Ferit Hoxha has met members of the German Bundestag’s Committee on European Union Affairs in Berlin. He outlined progress towards European Union membership, as reflected in the European Commission’s progress report, and discussed key reform and development priorities.

Hoxha said Albania aimed to conclude accession negotiations by the end of 2027. He described the target as ambitious but achievable, stressing the need to advance reforms and meet membership standards. He acknowledged the remaining challenges and the substantial work ahead. The minister said the country had changed profoundly since beginning its European path. He reaffirmed its strategic choice and commitment to joining the European Union.

Further, Hoxha stressed that Albania sought no shortcuts or favours, but wanted its reforms, merits and results to determine its progress. He added that membership would benefit both Albania and Europe. He cited security, stability, strategic alignment and Albania’s readiness to assume the responsibilities of a future member state. Hoxha also thanked Germany for its continued support and confidence. He expressed particular appreciation to Committee Chairman Anton Hofreiter and its members for their hospitality and substantive discussions.
