The leader of the cultural association and Ensemble “Lunxhëria”, Koço Vasili was rewarded by the National Center of Traditional Activities on his outstanding contribution to the collection and presentation of the ethno-cultural heritage of the area.

The certificate was presented to him during the sixth edition of the meeting of cultural associations, which was held in Kavaja.

Koço Vasili says that, this appreciation is a further impetus for the continuation of over fifty years of work in the field of folklore.

“I felt good, not that I received that certificate. I felt good, that the National Folklore Center evaluated all folklore and the work that is done in the district of Gjirokastër. Such evaluations are an expression of the work done and more needs to be done, because we still need to work so that tradition, culture, folklore not only develops, but is transmitted as best as possible to the new generations,” said Mr. Vasili.

Ethno-folklorist Koço Vasili, while leading the “Lunxhëria” ensemble for over 5 decades, is doing an excellent job on passing on traditions to the new generation.

Vasili is also the author of two books in the field of folklore: “Lunxhëria Wedding” and “Lunxhëria Beauties”.
