Luma’s area traditional clothes, color and elegance

An important place in handicrafts used to be the preparation of traditional costumes. There are fewer and fewer people who wear or know how to make traditional clothing, and for this reason, their preservation and the transmission of knowledge are essential for heritage. In modern times, folk costumes are mainly displayed in folklore festivals or occasions of family celebrations such as weddings. There are still many families who preserve them as cultural and spiritual assets.

Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage of Shkodër, in the wake of a project to present northern clothing to the public, brings some clothing from the Luma area. They stand out for their beauty, elegance and color combination.

In one of the photos published on social networks, said Regional Directorate of Cultural Heritage DRTK brings a vest fanatically preserved by the Doçi family, handmade in 1935 as part of the dowry being prepared for the daughter of the family.

This vest preserves elements of Luma’s clothing and is fanatically preserved in the village of Nanga, by this family.

These are inherited today by the daughter of the house. Wool from the ‘Ruda’ sheep, which is a 100% Kukës and Dibër breed, was used for their weaving.
