The National Experimental Theater ‘Kujtim Spahivogli’ presents the premiere of ‘Dark Red,’ a dance-theater performance inspired by Migjeni’s famous novel ‘Historia e njena nga ato.’ Directed by Mariel Brahimllari, the show is produced with support from the 2023 Youth Theater Fund and the Ministry of Culture.

Inspired by Migjen’s character Luke, ‘Dark Red’ delivers the message that there are many individuals like Luke today, each forging their own path to reach their desired destinations.

The modern Albanian woman’s emulation of Luke has led to a phenomenon where using one’s body to attain various goals, such as securing a job, living a luxurious life, gaining quick fame, or accumulating wealth, has become prevalent.

This show aims to bring to the attention of the public not only prostitution in the classical sense of the word, which involves exchanging one’s body for money, but also any other form of it where sexual favors expedite one’s path to a career or wealth.

“You probably know one of Luke’s legitimate sisters just as well as you know Luke herself. Their lives are intertwined; they’re all the same and they all provide you with what you’re looking for – firsthand.” – The story of one of them, Migjeni.

The show will take place on October 11 at Room 105 of the National Experimental Theater ‘Kujtim Spahivogli’ within ArTurbina.
